Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use mialo.us, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, zoom or reduced motion. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

What we do

  • Every page works with a keyboard, shows a visible focus outline and starts with a “Skip to content” link.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Form fields have labels, and errors and confirmations are announced to screen readers.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and scroll scenes stay still and the background video does not play. Otherwise, you can pause the video at any time.
  • Each page declares its language, English or Spanish, so screen readers pronounce it correctly.
  • Text can be zoomed, and the layout adapts from small phones to large screens.
  • We check pages with automated accessibility tests and by hand with a keyboard.

Known limitations

  • The app preview shows illustrative screens of the Mialo app. Each screen is described in text beside it, but some details inside the phone, such as map pins, are visual only.
  • The downloadable guide (PDF) may not be fully accessible yet. If you need it in another format, write to us and we will send the information in a way that works for you.
  • The sign-up form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block bots. It usually runs invisibly; if it asks for a check you cannot complete, email us and we will add you to the list.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on mialo.us is hard to use, email hello@mialo.us with the page and what happened. We aim to reply within 5 business days.
